ONE DAY IN BANAT

What you'll do

A full day in the Banat region: almost 500 km in a 12-hour trip. The trip will take us to some beautiful backroads, most of them on the hilly and mountainous side of Banat.

The first stop will be at Bigar Waterfall. This small waterfall (7-8 m) became famous after it was voted the most beautiful cascade in the world, according to TheWorldGeography.com.

The next stop is the Danube, the second-largest river in Europe. The Danube enters Romania after passing through six countries and four European capitals, but not before forming its largest gorge in Southern Banat. This gorge is also the natural border between Romania and Serbia. We’ll visit the most spectacular part of the Gorge—the Iron Gates. The two narrowest sectors are known as "the cauldrons," and we'll discover why.

It's time for lunch at a restaurant on the Danube's banks.

Don’t forget your walking shoes, comfortable clothes, and your camera.
